Purposes, duration, and legal basis of the processing of personal data

Web protocols of the central WWW server

When you access this website, the University of Cologne's web server automatically collects and stores the following information in the log files:

Computer name or IP address of the accessing computer
Time of request to the server

The temporary storage of this data by the system is necessary to enable delivery of the website to your computer. In particular, the IP address of your computer must remain stored for the duration of the session.

The purpose of the processing is the handling of your request. The data is first stored on the web server and then forwarded internally to the web editors. On the web server, the data is automatically deleted after 4 weeks. The processing of the contact request is done via email. Complete data security cannot be guaranteed. Confidential inquiries will therefore be answered by telephone or in writing, provided that the person making the inquiry has made their telephone number or address available. Following the processing of your contact request, the stored data will also be deleted from our mail server after 4 weeks at the latest.
