  • Browser type and version
  • Computer name or IP address of the accessing computer
  • Time of request to the server
  • requested website

The temporary storage of this data by the system is necessary to enable delivery of the website to your computer. In particular, the IP address of your computer must remain stored for the duration of the session.

In addition, we use the data to ensure the security of our information technology systems and to ensure the functionality of our website. An evaluation of the data for marketing purposes does not take place in this context.

Of the aforementioned data, the IP address is considered personal. Your IP address will be stored for a maximum of 7 days and then completely anonymized (deleted or altered). After that time, the aforementioned data is no longer personal. It shall be deleted as soon as it is no longer necessary to achieve the purpose for which it was collected.

The legal basis for the temporary storage of data and log files is Chapter 6 Art. 1 (f) of the GDPR, because the University of Cologne has a legitimate interest in identifying and eliminating malfunctions and in optimizing its website.

With this website, the University of Cologne aims to inform the public about the performance of its tasks and its events. The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6 Para. 1 (e) of the GDPR in conjunction with Section 3 of the North Rhine-Westphalia Data Protection Act (DSG NRW) and Section 8 Para. 6 of the North Rhine-Westphalia University Act (HG NRW).

If processing of personal data is necessary in an individual case to fulfill a legal obligation, Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR in conjunction with the corresponding legal provision from which the legal obligation arises also serves as the legal basis.

To the extent that we obtain the consent of the data subject for processing personal data, Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. a GDPR serves as the legal basis.
