Programs for emerging scientists

Active support and networking of emerging researchers from the funded projects are among the tasks of the meta-project. The advisory and networking services for young researchers are organized by the meta-project team; they consist of the following formats:

MeTa Meet & Talk

MeTa Meet & Talk is the format for informal discussion. It serves as a space for peer-to-peer exchange on self-selectedtopic areas. The group of participants largely determines the content of the meetings independently; with organization support provided by the meta-team in Cologne. Central topics on which an exchange is desired are self-organization, data management, survey instruments, publishing and career planning. The meetings are held digitally every month.

Team Conference 2025

A second group of emerging researchers forms the Conference 2025 team. Participants in this offer have the opportunity to design a scientific conference according to their own ideas and thereby gain experience in conference organization. The planning and organization of the conference takes place in cooperation between the participants and the Hamburg meta-team. The conference is scheduled to take place in Hamburg at the beginning of March 2025 on the topic of Individualization in Language Education.

Method schools

A total of two relevant spring or fall schools are to be held during the term of the focus area. These serve to provide methodological qualification and can also address common content-related issues.

In 2024, the meta-project team is planning an autumn school on academic writing, which will take place on September 19th and 20th at the German Institute for Adult Education (DIE) in Bonn. The program is expected to include offerings on Writing and Presentation Skills and Journal Identification and will conclude with a Meet the Editor. All emerging researchers from the Language Education in the Immigrant Society funding line are cordially invited to this offer. Further information will be made available in good time before the event.
